Mornington Peninsula Winery Walk

Sat 4th May 2024

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

A favourite event on the Mornington Peninsula, this approximately 10 kilometre walk from Red Hill to Merricks, in part traces an historic rail track, while tasting Mornington Peninsula current release wines and enjoying tasty canapes along the way.

This is an all-weather event.  Please dress for the day as sometimes the weather in May can be a little unpredictable.

Meet us Red Hill Recreation Reserve with the first group leaving from 8am - look for the sign and flags!

It is a Red Hill Market day, and it can get a bit hectic up there, so please arrive at the Red Hill Recreation Reserve at least 30 minutes prior to your departure time to ensure you have enough time to park and grab a coffee before you head off.   Please drive down Arkwell's Lane (beside the Reserve) to park and follow the directions of the Lions Club parking people who will direct you to a dedicated parking area allocated to us to allow easy access to our first stop at Lindenderry.   Our MP Wine team will check you in near the carpark.  There will be more specific parking information and a voucher closer to the day.

Our first stop this year is Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill.  Wander from the Red Hill Reserve carpark through the beautiful gardens of Lindenderry for some delicious wine and a tasty treat to start the day.   Walk up the lane to Arthurs Seat Road and down the path to Red Hill Epicurean for a taste of Foxey's Sparkling Wine with salumi and breakfast fare.  Then we will walk along the beautiful historic rail trail to a private vineyard of Paringa Estate, showcasing a Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.  Then head down the track to Stonier, for tasting of wines with a matched canape and finally onto Merricks General Wine Store for a taste of their Baillieu & Elgee wines and a something delicious for lunch. A bus will then take you back to Lindenderry, to walk back to the Reserve to collect your car.

The walking track between Red Hill Reserve and the Epicurean is paved, however, the section from Epicurean to Merricks is unmade but usually quite well maintained.  It is mostly flat or slightly downhill with a very small steep 50 metre section midway along the track at Tonkins Road.   The whole walk on the day generally takes around 4.5 hours to complete at a leisurely pace, and we include 4 stops for around 30 minutes along the way.

Fresh air, glorious views, good company, delicious food and wine...it's a fabulous day out!
